The Beckhoff EL1258 is an 8-channel digital input EtherCAT terminal designed for acquiring fast binary 24 V DC control signals from the process level and transmitting them in electrically isolated form to the controller. Each channel features LED signal state indication and the terminal supports the XFC multi-timestamp function, enabling registration of up to 32 events with timestamps per bus cycle. This represents a significant performance improvement over the EL1252, which can accept only one edge change with timestamp per bus cycle. The EL1258 synchronizes with other EtherCAT devices through the distributed clocks system, enabling event measurement across the entire system with a uniform timebase and precision better than 1 microsecond.
