If I ask for a washdown motor, could this still show me a general-purpose one?
No. Duty (washdown, explosion-proof, farm duty, HVAC, etc.) is a hard filter derived from each product's own category, exactly like a frame or enclosure mismatch — a general-purpose motor is excluded outright when you ask for washdown, never shown at a lower score. Washdown and explosion-proof ratings are real safety/application requirements, not cosmetic variants.
Does a high match percentage guarantee the motor will fit?
It means every spec you asked about has real, published data on that product and matches (or, for horsepower, meets or exceeds what you need). Always confirm against the datasheet before ordering.
Why isn't voltage a filter here?
We found two real data problems: dual-voltage motors ("230/460V") weren't captured consistently, so an exact match could wrongly exclude a perfectly compatible motor, and the same generic field is shared with unrelated data (a network cable's voltage rating, not a motor's). Rather than risk a wrong comparison, it's left out until that's cleaned up. RPM had a similar problem (pole count getting confused with actual RPM in some records) and has since been fixed and is now a filter below.
