Send us the geometry, we send back the part. CNC machining is the workhorse of custom manufacturing: it holds the tightest tolerances of any process on this page, works in almost any metal or engineering plastic, and needs no tooling investment — which makes it the right choice for one-off replacement parts, functional prototypes and low-to-mid volume production alike.

We quote from a 3D model (STEP or IGES is ideal), a fully dimensioned 2D drawing, or both. If a feature is going to be expensive to machine — an unnecessarily tight tolerance, a deep pocket with a small corner radius, a thread that would be cheaper as an insert — we tell you before the job runs, not after the invoice.

When CNC machining is the right call

  • An obsolete part with no supplier left. A discontinued shaft, bushing, gear blank, wear plate or manifold can be re-cut from the sample or the original print — see reverse engineering.
  • Tolerances a fabricated part cannot hold. Bearing fits, seal bores, spline and keyway work, flatness and concentricity callouts.
  • Low volume where tooling can never pay back. Under a few thousand pieces, machining usually beats moulding or stamping on total cost.
  • Prototypes that must behave like the production part, in the production material, before you commit to tooling.

How do I get a quote for cnc machining?

Upload your drawing or 3D model on this page — STEP, IGES, DWG, DXF, STL, SolidWorks, Inventor, Parasolid, PDF drawings, photos, or a ZIP of the whole package — with the quantity and material, or email the same files to [email protected]. We review the package and reply with pricing, lead time and any manufacturability notes within 1 business day. If you only have a physical sample, send photos with a few measured dimensions and we will work from that.

What file formats do you need for a CNC machining quote?

A 3D model in STEP (.step/.stp) or IGES is ideal because it carries the exact geometry with no interpretation. Native SolidWorks, Inventor and Parasolid files are fine too. Add a 2D drawing (PDF or DWG/DXF) for tolerances, threads, finish and material callouts — geometry alone does not tell us which dimensions are critical. A dimensioned sketch or a photo of the old part with measurements is enough to start.

Can you machine a replacement part if I only have the broken one?

Yes. Send the sample or clear photos with measured key dimensions and we produce a drawing for your approval before anything is cut, so you can confirm fits and tolerances first. Worn or broken features are reconstructed from the mating parts and the function. This is our reverse-engineering path and it is how most obsolete-part jobs start.

How tight a tolerance can you actually hold?

Standard machined work is quoted to ISO 2768-m, roughly ±0.005 in (±0.13 mm). Precision features go to ±0.0005 in (±0.013 mm), and ground features tighter again. Tolerance drives cost more than almost anything else on a drawing, so call out tight tolerances only where the part actually needs them — we will flag any that look accidental when we quote.

Who actually manufactures the parts?

KKM Solutions is a manufacturing sourcing partner, not an in-house plant. Your job is placed with a vetted contract manufacturer matched to the process, material, tolerance and volume — so a prototype, a 5-axis aerospace-grade part and a 10,000-piece production run each go to a shop that runs that work every day, instead of being forced onto whatever equipment one factory happens to own. KKM manages the order, the paperwork and the delivery, and you deal with one supplier throughout.

What happens to my drawings and design files?

Files you send are used only to quote and manufacture your parts, are shared only with the supplier quoting the job, and are never published, resold, or used to list a product in our catalog. If you need a signed non-disclosure agreement in place first, ask for one at [email protected] before sending anything.

Can KKM Solutions supply the standard components that go with a custom part?

Yes — that is the reason to buy custom parts here rather than from a pure manufacturing marketplace. The catalog already lists more than 300,000 bearings, seals, sensors, motors, drives, pneumatic and power-transmission components, so a machined shaft can ship with its bearings and seals, and a fabricated frame with its guarding hardware, on one order and one invoice.
